Advertising has been an important part of Southwest Airlines' storied history since 1971. This section of our website is a collection of our more memorable advertisements from the past. Collectively they tell the Southwest story in an entertaining way. We think you will get a kick out of them.

• How Do We Love You? (1971) (48k)
  From Southwest Airlines Magazine Vol. 1, No. 1, this ad features the entire Southwest flight schedule between our first three cities.
• We're Spreading Love (1977) (61k)
  As Southwest Airlines grew larger, distances across Texas grew smaller. By 1977 we covered the state (except for service to Amarillo that started in 1978).
• You Have To Run Some Incredible Routes (1991) (68k)
  Southwest Airlines began sponsoring sports teams in the late 80's. It was a natural fit; following your favorite team is easy on Southwest. With convenient flights at the lowest fares around, making touchdowns is easy.

  In 1992 "value" was the fad sweeping the airline industry. At Southwest we stuck with the everyday low fares we've always had, and always will.

  If you're thinking that another airline is number one in Customer Satisfaction, think again. In 1991, Southwest Airlines had the fewest customer complaints per 100,000 passengers of all major airlines, a feat we duplicated in 1992, 1993, 1994, 1995, and 1996.

  Two new "airline-within-an-airline" competitors faced off against Southwest in 1994. While other carriers may offer low fares on a handful of routes, only Southwest Airlines offers low fares on every seat of every flight, to every city we serve.

  On January 15, 1997 Southwest began service to Jacksonville, our fourth Florida destination. Travel from Ft. Lauderdale to Jacksonville, or any of our other published intra-Florida service, was just $59 one-way. (Fare does not include $3 airport tax.)
