Children's Home Society of Florida

On August 20th, the Maintenance department in Tampa, Florida had a charity fundraiser for the Children's Home Society of Florida. They sold breakfast burritos and a variety of sweet breakfast items. The Maintenance department had a raffle and sold T-shirts with proceeds going to the charity as well. The mechanics shared their spirit by working to help orphaned children throughout the Tampa Bay area. The burritos were a big hit!

Sharing Southwest Spirit at the San Francisco Inaugural

Southwest Airlines Employees volunteered their time on the Sunday afternoon before the official San Francisco Inaugural celebration by "sharing their spirit " at a public housing development near the San Francisco International Airport. Southwest and Mayor Gavin Newsom's office collaborated to partner on "Back to School Action Day" at the Alice Griffith Community of Opportunity in South San Francisco. Southwest provided school supplies for a backpack giveaway and goody bags for the residents. More than 60 Southwest Employees rolled up their blue Share the Spirit t-shirt sleeves and participated in working in the garden, housing development clean-up and played games with the kids.

Shoot for Hope

NBA Cares and Southwest Airlines gave Garylee Zuniga an NBA experience to remember at Shoot for Hope in January. The Shoot for Hope program gives families who stay at Ronald McDonald Houses the opportunity to meet their favorite players, like Kobe Bryant of the LA Lakers.

Cook Children's Medical Center

Susan Zappa, RN, of Cook Children's Medical Center in Fort Worth, along with two doctors from the Hospital Dos de Mayo in Peru, examine one of the medical kits donated to the hospital by Southwest Airlines, and transported to Peru by Susan and her team.
