Step-by-Step Instructions
Beginning 24 hours prior to scheduled departure, Customers with eligible reservations may check in online and print a boarding pass at southwest.com. Boarding passes are also available at a Southwest Airlines Skycap Podium, Ticket Counter, or E-Ticket Check-In kiosk.

- Determine if you are eligible. To use Online Checkin @ southwest.com and print your Boarding Pass, you must:
- Be age verified if traveling on Senior, Youth or Child, or Infant* fares.
- Check in beginning 24 hours prior to your scheduled departure
- Check in at least one hour prior to your scheduled departure
- Have a Ticketless reservation
- Be checking in for flights that have not already departed
- Have purchased an eligible fare type (Customers holding reservations for group or military fares, and those requiring an additional seat must proceed to the airport for checkin)
*This only applies to infants traveling on an Infant fare. Children under 2 who are riding as lapchildren must still present a valid birth certificate and checkin with a Customer Service Agent at the airport.
These requirements, fare rules, heightened security, and other issues may prevent some reservations from qualifying for Online Checkin.
- From the southwest.com home page, click on Travel Center:
- From the Travel Center, click on Checkin Online/Print Boarding Pass:
- Enter your confirmation number and name in the boxes provided and click the "Retrieve Reservation" button:
- Flights available for Online Checkin are denoted in the Status column by the word "Available" in green text. To print all available Boarding Passes, click on the "Check In and Print All Available Boarding Passes" button.

- Please note:
- Airport Checkin is required for all routings in which a Boarding Pass is not available or not printed.
- Flights not available for Online Checkin will be denoted as "Airport Checkin Required" in red text.
- Faxed copies of Boarding Passes will not be accepted and must be reprinted prior to boarding the aircraft.
- Print your Boarding Pass(es):
- Use your Internet browser's (e.g. Internet Explorer, Netscape Navigator) "Print" function.
- In order to print a valid Boarding Pass, you must have your Internet Browser set up to print images. A barcode should appear on the left side of the printed document.
- Be sure to bring this document with you to the airport.
- Read all information at the bottom of your Boarding Pass carefully:
- This Boarding Pass will be retained by Southwest Airlines at the departure gate.
- Any change made to this reservation by you or any other person will void this boarding pass.
- In order to print a valid Boarding Pass, your Internet Browser must be set up to print images. A barcode should appear on the left side of the printed document.
- Faxed copies of Boarding Passes will not be accepted and must be reprinted prior to boarding the aircraft.
- If you are not checking luggage, you may proceed directly to the Security Checkpoint with this Boarding Pass.
- This Boarding Pass is valid only for the Passenger listed above.
- Government-issued identification is required.
- The TSA strictly enforces a limit of one carryon item, plus one smaller personal item.
- Customer Checkin Requirement: Customers who are not present and available for boarding at the departure gate at least ten (10) minutes before scheduled departure time will have their reserved space cancelled and will not be eligible for denied boarding compensation.
