You do not have to purchase WiFi to watch TV and movies. Live and video-on-demand TV is currently available for FREE, compliments of DISH!
Movies on-demand are priced per movie all day, per device on WiFi-enabled aircraft and includes access to only the specific movie purchased.* Forms of payment currently include credit cards (Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover) and PayPal.
Live and video-on-demand content may not be downloaded to your device and is only valid while inflight.

Look for the "Southwest Airlines Hotspot" stickers onboard or a Flight Attendant will alert you if wireless network is available on your aircraft. You may also use the WiFi finder to determine if your flight will have a wireless network.
* Not all WiFi planes are currently equipped with movies and on-demand TV.
You may now use approved WiFi-enabled devices gate-to-gate! Once onboard, simply select "Southwest WiFi" from the available networks and launch your web browser to be directed to the Southwest Airlines Inflight Entertainment Portal. From there you can access TV and movies. Note: Please ensure your device is switched to "airplane mode" once the aircraft doors are closed. WiFi will remain on and accessible for taxi, takeoff and landing. You may resume watching TV or movies for all connecting and same plane service on WiFi-enabled aircraft where TV or movies are available.
Live TV may not be available for the duration of your flight to/from SJU, AUA, MBJ, NAS, CUN, SJD, MEX, and PUJ. Select on-demand TV episodes will still be available as well as your movie upon completing purchase before loss of coverage. You will receive notification during your flight within the Portal when we anticipate a loss of coverage.
The inflight entertainment offerings are available on WiFi-enabled devices (802.11g/n) that meet the following minimum requirements:

Movie studios require specific copyrighted material to be viewed with digital rights management software. We have provided a new app to support the copyrighted material that allows you to watch the content during your flight. You will need to download the new Onboard Player app for Apple and Android devices (phones & tablets) or the ViewRight Web plugin for those who are watching content through a standard laptop browser.
The Onboard Player app will only be used by Southwest during your flight so you are able to watch the copyrighted content and it will not interfere with any other software you have already installed to watch digital content. The app will only need to be installed once, and will continue to be used by Southwest during your flight to provide you with the purchased content, but will not need to be installed for future flights unless you delete it from your device.
Apple Devices: Visit the app store to find the Onboard Player app and install it on your device. Installing the app during your flight will require the purchase of WiFi.
Android Devices: You will have the option to download the app during your flight or may download it ahead of time from the Google Play Store.
Laptops: You will have the ability to download your plugin during your flight.
Every device is different but here are the basic steps:
Using the same supported device, launch your internet browser to return to the Southwest Airlines Inflight Entertainment Portal, browse to the previously purchased TV or video content and click "Watch Now."
Please note: TV episodes and movies may not be available on all WiFi-enabled flights.
