Rapid Rewards Transition

All active Rapid Rewards Members will continue to be active Members in the new program and will not be required to re-enroll.  You will retain the same account number in the new program.  Additionally, if you have an online account, you will keep your same login credentials.

If you have a credit balance in your account prior to the conversion to the new program, you will continue to see your credits in your account.  Credits will maintain their original expiration date.  You will have the one-time option to convert points earned in the new program back into credits from the old program at a rate of 1,200 points (= 1 credit) in order to reach a total of 16 credits and redeem them for a Standard Award.

Credits earned but not posted at the time of conversion will be posted to your account as new program points at rate of 1,200 Rapid Rewards points per credit.

Yes, Past Flight Points can be requested for flights taken prior to the conversion.  The request must be made within 12 months of the flight, and you will earn 1,200 points per flight taken.

Credits earned prior to the transition date through qualified purchases with Rapid Rewards Partners but not deposited into your account at the time of transition will be posted to your account on or after the transition date as Rapid Rewards Points at the following rates:

0.25 (quarter) credit = 300 Rapid Rewards Points
0.5 (half) credit = 600 Rapid Rewards Points
1.0 (one) credit = 1,200 Rapid Rewards Points

Standard Awards will be subject to inventory restrictions.  Freedom Awards have no inventory restrictions but are subject to blackout dates.

Awards earned after the launch of the All-New Rapid Rewards program (by converting Rapid Rewards Points into Rapid Rewards credits) have the same rules/restrictions as a Standard Award from the old program, with an expiration date one year from date of creation.  These Standard Awards earned after the launch of the new program are not extendable.

Once an Award has expired, if it was originally issued prior to the new program launch, you will have up to 12 months after the expiration date to request a one-time only Award reissue for a $50 fee, payable by credit card only, at southwest.com.  Standard Awards that are issued after the launch of the new program will not be eligible for extension.

If you have A-List status at the time of the conversion to the new program, you will retain your A-List status in the new program, and you may qualify for A-List Preferred status.

Any Award or Companion travel that is booked prior to the conversion to the All-New Rapid Rewards program will not be impacted and can be flown as originally booked.

If you cancel your Standard or Freedom Award reservation before the flight, the Award will be immediately redeposited in your account.  If you do not cancel the Award reservation, the unused Award will be redeposited in your account within three to four days after the last flight date/time in the reservation.

If you have a Companion Pass at the time of the program launch, you will retain your Companion Pass in the new program.  The length of your eligibility will vary depending on the year of the expiration date of your Companion Pass.  At the time of launch, if your Companion Pass had an expiration date between March 1, 2011 and December 31, 2011, you will retain your Companion Pass through December 31, 2011.  If your Companion Pass has an expiration date in 2012 at the time of launch, you will retain your Companion Pass until December 31, 2012.  Following the launch of the new program, the Companion Pass Member will be allowed to change their designated Companion three times during your qualification period by calling 1-800-IFLYSWA (1-800-435-9792).
