Today, the Wright Amendment restricts us to flying nonstop to only nine states (including Texas) from Dallas Love Field. We currently offer nonstop service to eight of those nine states.
On October 13, 2014, when the Wright Amendment is officially repealed, we will gain the ability to provide nonstop service to an additional 41 states, plus the District of Columbia.
This gives Southwest Airlines an immediate opportunity to add more nonstops all across America from Dallas Love Field.
We can’t wait to take you where you want to go and offer a brand new travel experience from your hometown airport.
So get ready, Big D. The countdown to more destinations is on!

The Army established Love Field on October 19, 1917, and named it after Army flyer Moss Love.
Airline service first came to Love on June 1, 1929, operating out of a passenger terminal near Bachman Lake. In 1940, a new terminal opened, and after World War II the building was expanded twice to meet the need for additional air travel.
The current Love Field terminal opened in 1958. The building featured three concourses with moving sidewalks and a Dallas tradition, the Luau Room restaurant, above the main lobby.
Southwest began service on June 18, 1971, as an intrastate carrier with flights between Dallas, Houston, and San Antonio.
In partnership with the City of Dallas, we’re proud to have constructed the new facility at zero cost to Dallas Taxpayers. Southwest Airlines provided the capital to build the project, which included over $10 million dollars in cash for various improvements and over $392 million dollars in bonds backed solely by Southwest Airlines. It represents the largest construction/ renovation project ever undertaken by our Company, and is scheduled to be completed on-time and under budget.
Supporting economic growth and development in North Texas, the Love Field Modernization Program(LFMP) is worth more than $1.2 billion dollars to North Texas, and it is bringing over 9,400 jobs to Dallas.
