Contest Overview

Imagine a class field trip where instead of riding a big yellow bus, you fly on a Boeing 737 airplane to get to your destination. That’s exactly what student winners of the Southwest Airlines Adopt-A-Pilot “CAREER TAKEOFF” National Contest get to do!

Reinforcing Adopt-A-Pilot’s school-to-career theme, the “CAREER TAKEOFF” national contest invites participating Adopt-A-Pilot classes to research, compose, and illustrate a comprehensive contest submission profiling different careers students might pursue someday. The contest requires lots of teamwork, creativity, and attention to detail, however the rewards can be great.

The Captain’s Award (first place prize) is an educational roundtrip “flying” field trip to a nearby Southwest city for the entire class and chaperones. The First Officer Awards (runner-up prizes) are cash scholarships to the winning classrooms to be used for educational supplies.
