TITLE: Chief Information Officer and Vice President of Technology for Southwest Airlines Co.
JOB DESCRIPTION: Jan is responsible for Leading Southwest’s Technology Applications Portfolios and Infrastructure groups.
LENGTH OF SERVICE AT SOUTHWEST: A four-year consulting engagement with Southwest Airlines. Appointment to CIO October 2, 2006
EXPERIENCE: Jan has led the Technology Applications Teams through the implementation of Crew Web Access, Maintenance Production Control, Gift Cards, Gate Readers, Kiosks, Business Scorecards and Analytics. Before joining Southwest Airlines, Jan was a Vice President for EDS/The Feld Group. Her Feld Group consulting engagements included large clients in Transportation, Consumer Goods, Financial Services and Manufacturing industries in the areas of building IT strategy, applications development, program management, methodology, as well as organizational and governance processes.

Prior to joining EDS/The Feld Group, Jan spent five years with Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway and, prior to the merger, Burlington Northern (BN) Railroad. As Assistant Vice President of Applications Development, she was responsible for the development and support of marketing, revenue, equipment management and customer service software for the railroad.

Previous experience at PepsiCo included eleven years with Frito-Lay, Inc. and six years at northAmerican Van Lines. Jan worked with the international snack food companies in joint application development with Frito-Lay,Inc. to implement hand held computer technology, corporate reference data and sales data warehouse systems in both Europe and Mexico. Jan’s experience at Frito-Lay, Inc. also included systems management of logistics, costing and product systems, in addition to the leadership of various data center functions. Her experience at northAmerican Van Lines was in operations management.

EDUCATION: Jan holds an undergraduate degree in Psychological Sciences from Purdue University and an MBA in Information Systems from the University of Dallas.
FAMILY: Jan and her husband, Paul, have 4 daughters- Jennifer, Lisa, Courtney and Loren.
FIRST PAYING JOB: Babysitting @ $1.00 per hour.
PROUDEST MOMENT: Two youngest daughters, Courtney and Loren, winning National Soccer Championships.
