TITLE: Vice President Purchasing for Southwest Airlines Co.
JOB DESCRIPTION: Ray is responsible for leading various initiatives to strengthen Southwest Airlines' strategic supply base and leverage Southwest's significant and growing buying power. He works with his teams to improve quality, reduce costs, improve processes and form strategic alliances with key suppliers.
LENGTH OF SERVICE AT SOUTHWEST: Started May 4, 1988
EXPERIENCE: Ray previously worked for a short time as a computer programmer at another company. He began his career at Southwest as a Specialist in Finance. Before becoming Vice President, he also was a Financial Analyst, Manager Cargo Accounting, Manager Sales Accounting, Director of Revenue Accounting and Senior Director for Purchasing.
EDUCATION: Ray earned his B.S. in Computer Information Systems from Oklahoma Christian University.
FAMILY: Ray and his wife, Shea, have a Welsh Terrier named Rosie.
FIRST PAYING JOB: I worked at a restaurant clearing tables in my hometown, Oklahoma.
PROUDEST MOMENT: September 26, 1992 - the day I married my beautiful wife, she is such a blessing to me.
