Safe Travels account

All transpacific and interisland travelers aged 18 and older are required to create and complete a Safe Travels account prior to departure.

Negative COVID-19 test or quarantine

All passengers age five and older who show proof of a valid negative COVID-19 PCR test from a State of Hawaii approved Trusted Testing Partner taken within 72 hours of boarding the last flight of their journey to Hawaii will not be subject to the State of Hawaii’s 10-day traveler quarantine rule. County-imposed requirements

The Island of Hawaii (Kona and Hilo) and Maui may require a second rapid COVID-19 test administered by the county and taken upon arrival. Uploading your Hawaii vaccination card to your Safe Travels account may exempt you from the second rapid COVID-19 test. Be sure to bring a hard copy of your vaccination card.

The island of Maui is asking travelers to download the AlohaSafe Alert App on their mobile phone before arriving in Maui.

HAWAII PRE-CLEAR

In partnership with the State of Hawaii, Southwest® is offering Hawaii Pre-Clear, which allows eligible Customers to be cleared at their departure gate and bypass Safe Travels Hawaii airport screening upon arrival in Hawaii.*

To qualify for Hawaii Pre-Clear, please complete the State of Hawaii’s travel requirements as listed in the above sections. Once these items are complete, please have your Safe Travels QR code ready and see a Southwest Agent at your gate for screening. For more information on Hawaii Pre-Clear, see our FAQ.

*Hawaii Pre-Clear is only effective for state-level travel requirements. County-imposed restrictions will still be required. *Customers on flights to Kona (KOA) and unaccompanied minors are ineligible for Hawaii Pre-Clear. The Hawaii Pre-Clear processing will close 30 minutes prior to your departure. The state of Hawaii reserves the right to re-screen or validate the screening of any passenger.

If your first stop is Honolulu, you will receive two QR codes.

Frequently Asked Questions

Hawaii Pre-Clear is a new benefit for our passengers traveling from our California gateways. Eligible Customers have the opportunity to be pre-cleared at their final departure gate and be eligible to bypass airport screening upon arrival in Hawaii.

To be considered for the Hawaii Pre-Clear convenience, make sure you have met each of the Hawaii travel requirements, and have your Safe Travels QR code ready when you travel.

After completing the Hawaii travel requirements, you will receive a QR code via email from travel@hawaii.gov (one code per each stop in Hawaii). Be sure to have that QR code and your identification ready to present to a friendly Southwest Agent at your departure gate. Once your State-of-Hawaii approved account has been verified by a Southwest representative, you will receive a Southwest-branded Pre-clear wristband allowing you to bypass airport screening upon arrival in Hawaii.

We also recommend you bring a paper copy of your negative COVID-19 test result and other required documentation to carry with you as you travel in the event there is an issue with clearance upon your arrival, or during your stay, in Hawaii.

Each adult aged 18 or older must have a unique account and QR code. Each child or dependent must be listed on one of the guardian(s) accounts.

At this time, Southwest is only pre-clearing Customers who have uploaded an approved negative COVID-19 test. All other exemptions will be screened upon arrival in Hawaii. As well, Customers on flights to Kona (KOA) and unaccompanied minors are ineligible for Hawaii Pre-Clear.
