When you travel with Southwest, we have your well-being in mind. In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, we've made changes to our operations and procedures to better support the well-being and comfort of our Employees and Customers – and we’ll continue to evaluate our policies and procedures as we learn more.

The Southwest Promise (cleanliness and social distancing)

If you cancel a flight with a nonrefundable fare, you'll receive flight credits (think of it like store credit!). You can track your flight credits by logging into your Rapid Rewards® account, and/or search for unused flight credits, or via the Southwest app.

When you're ready to use them, you can apply flight credits toward a new flight on Southwest.com or through our app using the original confirmation number from your modified or canceled flight(s).

What to expect at the airport

1. Look for the Southwest signs at the airport.  You can find our terminal locations on the airport information page.
2.  At almost all our airports you will find self-service kiosks to assist you - unless you need special assistance you normally do not need to stand in the full-service line.  Here are some of the few cases where you need to check-in on the full-service line.
   • Unaccompanied Minors
   • Customers traveling with pets
   • Customers traveling on age-qualifying fares (Infant and Child Fares) that have NOT already been age verified
   • Customers traveling on a Military Fare
   • Customers traveling with paper tickets
3. At the kiosk scan your boarding pass, enter your confirmation number, or your Rapid Rewards numbers.
4. Follow the prompts to add your bags to your reservation.
5. At some airports a bag tag will print out, you can affix it to your bag, and then drop the bag off with an agent.  At other airports, you will be directed to talk to an agent to drop your bags.  In either case, have your ID ready for all passengers in your party.
6. After your drop off your bags then you can take your boarding pass and proceed through security.
