The Boeing 737 MAX is now a Southwest Airlines Boeing 737 MAX! It will begin scheduled service in our existing network on October 1, 2017.  The all-new 737 MAX launches Southwest into a new chapter of extending our game-changing reach. We can’t wait for you to experience the MAX for yourself!

New Potential Destinations Unlocked!

New 737 MAX turbine

  • The MAX can fly up to 500 nautical miles farther than the 737-800, increasing the range of potential destinations for Southwest!

Enhanced Efficiency and Reliability

The new Boeing 737 MAX

  • The MAX delivers a 14% improvement in fuel consumption compared to the 737-800. It’s also quieter, reducing noise for our airport neighbors and Customers. The quieter 737 MAX has a 40% smaller noise footprint than today's single-aisle airplanes.
  • An increased takeoff payload allows for more freight and baggage to be flown.

Enhanced Cabin Experience

  • The MAX will introduce a new music-infused Customer Experience onboard flights. We’ve curated custom playlists onboard to connect our Southwest sound with our Customers that will run during boarding and deplaning. These mood-based playlists feature a variety of genres and artists for all to enjoy.
  • The MAX features the widest economy seat in the 737 market. The new seats boast adjustable headrests, a lower-profile arm rest, advanced cushion support, raised information pocket, and an elevated rear seat beam.
  • The MAX features the Boeing Sky Interior (as currently deployed on our 737-800s) with modern sculpted sidewalls and window reveals, LED lighting to enhance a sense of spaciousness, and larger, pivoting overhead stowage bins.
  • New Employee-designed galleys include a third galley allowing Flight Attendants to serve Customers with more ease.
