Rapid Rewards accounts will remain active and points won’t expire as long as you earn Rapid Rewards Points from flights or Partners every 24 months.
At Southwest, we have a quick, easy, and efficient boarding process. First, check in to get assigned a boarding group (A, B, or C) and a boarding position (1 - 60). The earlier you check in, up to 24 hours prior to your flight, the earlier your assigned spot in line will be. When your group is called, stand by the column with your number on it until it’s your turn to board.
If you want to guarantee that you’ll be one of the first to board, buy a Business Select® fare to get an A1 - A15 boarding position. Rapid Rewards® Members with A-List and A-List Preferred status and Customers who buy EarlyBird Check-In® are also automatically assigned boarding positions ahead of general boarding.
Now you can get in the A1 - A15 boarding group at the gate or ticket counter on the day of travel with Upgraded Boarding. When available, Upgraded Boarding allows you to secure an earlier boarding position in the A1 - A15 boarding group for just $30 or $40 per flight depending your itinerary. If you’re interested, just ask the friendly Southwest Airlines Customer Service Agent at your gate before the boarding process begins.
An adult traveling with a child six years old or younger may board during Family Boarding, which occurs after the “A” group has boarded and before the “B” group begins boarding. If the child and the adult are both holding an “A” boarding pass, they should both board with the “A” boarding group.
Aisle? Window? Front? Back? At Southwest, we let you sit where you like. We don’t assign seats on our flights, so feel free to sit in any available seat once you board the plane.
