Rapid Rewards A-List Membership Rules and Regulations
Effective Thursday, November 8, 2007
- A Rapid Rewards Member who flies 32 qualifying one-way revenue flights in a 12-month period becomes eligible for Rapid Rewards’ A-List membership. Once a Member qualifies for Rapid Rewards’ A-List, he/she is entitled to reserved boarding privileges for 12 months, which means that Southwest Airlines will automatically reserve a boarding pass for the Member 36 hours prior to each of the Member’s confirmed Southwest Airlines’ flights to ensure the Member will receive the best available boarding pass. Reserved boarding will apply only to flights that a Member completes while his/her status is active on our A-List.
- Southwest Airlines will “reserve” boarding passes for A-List Members, but Members will still be responsible for “printing” their boarding pass. Passengers who do not obtain a boarding pass and are not present and available for boarding in the departure gate area at least ten minutes prior to scheduled departure time may have their reserved space cancelled and will not be eligible for denied boarding compensation.
- A-List qualification is based on actual revenue flights flown, not Rapid Rewards credits earned. A qualifying flight for Rapid Rewards’ A-List is a one-way revenue flight on Southwest Airlines from an origin city to a destination city, including any intermediate stops and/or connections on Southwest Airlines.
- The following will not count toward qualification for our A-List: Rapid Rewards Awards; Rapid Rewards Companion Pass travel; Rapid Rewards Preferred Partner credits; bonus Rapid Rewards credits, unless specifically designated as such; nonrevenue (free) and service-charged tickets, unless specifically designated as eligible; stops at intermediate cities on connecting or through flights; charter flights; tradeout tickets.
- For an A-List Member to receive benefits for each reservation, the Member must save his/her Rapid Rewards account number to each reservation at least 36 hours prior to checkin. Reserved boarding privileges will be provided for A-List Members for both revenue and Rapid Rewards Award travel on Southwest Airlines-operated flights as long as the above requirement is met.
- If a Member is unable to provide his/her account number at the time of booking, he/she will need to add the number at least 36 hours prior to scheduled departure since this is when boarding passes will be reserved for A-List Members. Members can add a Rapid Rewards number to an existing reservation via southwest.com by selecting the “Add Rapid Rewards Number” option under the Travel Tools toolbar. Members can also contact any of our toll-free Reservations numbers or our toll-free Rapid Rewards number 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
- Reserved boarding privileges will not be provided in instances where the Member’s reservation meets any of the following criteria: reservations booked less than 36 hours prior to scheduled departure; changes made to an existing reservation within 36 hours of a scheduled flight; standby travel on a different flight than what was originally confirmed; flights taken after a Member’s status expires from our A-List. Irregular operations may also affect a Member’s benefits on Rapid Rewards’ A-List boarding priority.
- Reserved boarding privileges will only be provided for A-List Members. If an A-List Member is traveling on a multiple-passenger reservation, reserved boarding privileges will not be provided for non-A-List Members in the same reservation. For A-List Members who are also Companion Pass Holders, reserved boarding privileges will not be provided for the Member’s designated Companion unless he/she also is an A-List Member.
- The Rapid Rewards A-List membership is valid for 12 full months, beginning on the date that Southwest Airlines issues notification (via e-mail or postcard) to the Member that A-List eligibility has been reached. The Rapid Rewards A-List membership beginning validity date and/or expiration date cannot be extended.
- The Member can only maintain one Rapid Rewards A-List membership during a single 12-month period, regardless of how many flights (over 32 one-ways) are taken. When the notification e-mail or postcard is issued, the balance for your A-List membership accumulation resets at zero.
- The Rapid Rewards A-List membership is not transferrable and is only applicable for the qualifying Member’s travel taken during his/her eligibility period. Rapid Rewards’ A-List membership privileges have no cash value and may not be sold, purchased, brokered, or bartered.
- All transactions in the Rapid Rewards program are subject to review by Southwest Airlines. Any misuse or violation of Rapid Rewards rules and regulations, including those applicable to A-List membership qualification requirements and benefits, will result in cancellation of the Member's Rapid Rewards account, A-List membership, and Awards.
- Southwest Airlines reserves the right to amend, suspend, or terminate this program at any time. This program is void where prohibited by law.
