Securing your boarding position.
If your itinerary includes at least one international flight, online check-in is available at southwest.com as early as 24 hours and as late as 90 minutes before your flight’s scheduled departure time. Although your boarding position can be secured online, you must check-in at the Southwest Airlines Ticket Counter upon arrival at the airport to have your passport verified, to check luggage, and to receive your boarding pass.
Arriving and checking in at the airport.
If your itinerary includes at least one international flight you should arrive at the Southwest Airlines Ticket Counter at least two hours* prior to your flight’s scheduled departure time in order to have your passports verified, to check luggage, and to receive your boarding pass. Curbside check-in is not available for itineraries that include international flights. If you arrive at the ticket counter with 60 minutes or less time remaining until your flight’s scheduled departure time, we will be unable to accommodate you on your scheduled flight. For flights departing Aruba (AUA), if you arrive at the ticket counter with 75 minutes or less remaining until your flight’s scheduled departure time, we will be unable to accommodate you on your scheduled flight.
Entry into the United States: The U.S. government is requiring anyone traveling into the United States to provide COVID-19-related documentation and contact tracing information. Learn more about travel requirements here.
*Some international cities suggest a three-hour airport arrival during peak travel times. Visit our Airport Information page for further details.
Using kiosks to save time.
Kiosks will be available in the majority of our non-U.S. airport locations. When departing on an international flight from an airport within the domestic U.S., you will be able to check-in, scan your passport, add emergency contact information, and print your boarding pass for both the domestic and international legs of your trip at a kiosk.
