If you’d like to stay beachside, you can’t do any better than world-famous Waikiki. This neighborhood, best known for the surf beach of the same name, is the perfect place to enjoy some sand, sun, and waves. And should you want to take a break from all the sunbathing and bodysurfing, you can always head out for a hike up to the top of Diamond Head State Monument to take in unforgettable views of the cityscape below and the great Pacific that stretches beyond it. Likewise, you can head to the Pearl Harbor Monument, which offers educational exhibits on the day that lives in infamy as well as moving memorials and tributes to peace.

Beyond the city, there’s plenty to enjoy, whether it’s on a day trip or part of an extended stay. The southeast coast’s Hanauama Bay attracts snorkelers and swimmers in droves with its crystal-clear waters. Meanwhile, the North Shore’s coastline also boasts its own alluring beaches, with waves crashing on scenic spots all the way from Ka’ena Point to Kawela Bay.
