Once Onboard A WiFi Aircraft


All you need is a WiFi-enabled device (802.11a/b/g or n) with an Internet browser. Please note that cellular devices without a WiFi component will not work with this system, and their use is restricted to game or airplane mode per federal regulations.

No, plug-ins only need to be downloaded once. Learn more about apps and plug-ins needed on devices that will allow you to watch TV and movies.

Every device is different but here are the basic steps:

  1. Turn on your WiFi-enabled device and set to airplane mode (if applicable).
  2. View available wireless networks, select "Southwest WiFi" and connect.
  3. Launch your Internet browser for immediate access to the Southwest Airlines Hotspot portal or type in the address bar.

Note: Please ensure your device is switched to "airplane mode" once the aircraft doors are closed. WiFi will remain on and accessible for taxi, takeoff, and landing.

Closed captioning can be enabled on devices running iOS 4-8 for our live TV channels. We are in the process of expanding supported devices across all of our entertainment offerings.
