Touching down in Ontario offers a world of possibilities. From its location in San Bernardino, Ontario International Airport offers easy access to Los Angeles and greater Southern California. The airport itself is worthy of exploration. It’s often used to film airport scenes in television shows, movies, and music videos. Being close to Hollywood has its benefits.
Los Angeles and all its eclectic neighborhoods are easily accessible via Interstate 10 after you arrive. Visit Koreatown and experience one of the country’s best dining scenes. Head to Beverly Hills and Rodeo Drive to do some shopping, even if it’s only the window variety. Catch a ball game at Chavez Ravine. Head all the way to the coast and gorgeous Santa Monica. We’re only scratching the surface.
If you’re more for the outdoors, head the other direction instead. Big Bear Lake is located northeast of the airport. Head directly east and you’ll eventually wind up in Joshua Tree National Park. Both are can’t miss visits. If you only have time for one, you know where you can book your next flight from Oakland to hit the other.
Don’t forget all that awaits right in San Bernardino. The Inland Empire, comprising San Bernardino, Riverside Country, and sometimes Palm Springs and the rest of the Coachella Valley, offer their own funky charms. Start with the so-called Ark of Citrus, UC Riverside’s grove containing two trees each of more than 1,000 citrus varieties, or Heart Rock Falls, a heart-shaped rock formation at the end of an easy hike. Branch out from there and create your own adventure.
