Soak up some rays at Seven Mile Beach, break out your snorkeling gear, and get a glimpse of the local wildlife from blue iguanas to stingrays. Want some more underwater fun? Take a dive down to the Kittiwake shipwreck. Once a submarine support vessel, the USS Kittiwake has transformed into a popular dive site and artificial reef just off Seven Mile Beach. Next, check out Spotts Beach. This beautiful white-sand beach is the ideal spot to watch the sunrise, soak up some rays, or snorkel in crystalline waters. Keep your eyes peeled for turtles—or get up close and personal with them at the Cayman Turtle Centre. There, you’ll find a variety of turtle species, including Kemp’s ridleys and loggerheads. During breeding season (May to October), view the hatchery.

Not everything there is to do in Grand Cayman is about the beach. Take a stroll through Queen Elizabeth II Botanic Park and browse desert roses and wild banana orchids—the Cayman Islands’ national flower—and hang out at the Blue Iguana Habitat. Next up: Barkers National Park. The undeveloped shoreline and secluded beaches found at the Cayman Islands’ first national park provide an ideal spot for horseback riding. Just south of George Town, Smith Barcadere is a sandy spot that is a great area for snorkeling and swimming. There are also picnic tables available, so don’t forget to bring lunch (and your sunscreen).

Don’t forget to see the sights inside the city limits during your visit. Travel back in time to the 18th century with a trip to the oldest building in Grand Cayman, Pedro St. James Castle. The three-story Great House was restored in the 1990s and guided tours are available. The site is also home to cottages and gardens. Dig into the culture of the Cayman Islands by exploring the diverse flora and fauna, history, and art at the Cayman Islands National Museum. The building itself, which dates back to the 1800s, provides additional insight to life on the islands.
