When you step off the plane in Denver, you'll be positioned to hop on I-70 and drive anywhere in Colorado. If you decide to check out the city of Denver, be sure to explore the Civic Center, also known as the Golden Triangle, which contains the Denver Art Museum and government buildings. With seven floors of art, the DAM features a large collection of indigenous American art, as well as a collection of modern and contemporary art. See pieces from your favorite artists like Pablo Picasso, Henri Matisse, and Georgia O'Keefe, among others. In addition to the art museum, Denver's Civic Center features a Greek amphitheater, a war memorial, and a variety of public events throughout the year.
You can't visit Denver without hitting up the Denver Mint, which is immediately west of the Civic Center Park. Take a tour of the Mint to see how they produce billions of coins each year. Tours are free, though they recommend you arrive early to secure your spot for the day. After your tour, explore the colorful dining scene in Denver's Capitol Hill nearby, where you can find a range of restaurants that include longtime local favorites and trendy new spots.
