Houston is the fourth largest city in the United States by population. This city is home to over one million residents who were born outside the U.S., and many brought with them their cultures and cuisines. You probably know Houston and Texas in general for excellent barbecue and steak houses. But Houston offers an exciting opportunity to explore foods from around the world, in addition to fusions of cultures. From Vietnamese restaurants to multicultural food halls, you’ll be able to find new favorites and old standbys all over the city.
Be sure to check out the city’s booming restaurant scene as well as its multitude of museums. Houston is also home to a great deal of festivals throughout the year—celebrate the Greek community, attend a rodeo, or watch the gay pride parade, to name a few. Thanks to its resilience and grit in the face of Mother Nature, Houston offers a variety of amenities that make a city great: Check out bike lanes throughout the city as well as the Buffalo Bayou Park Cistern, an underground water reservoir that acts as an art gallery.
