While some may consider Reno/Tahoe a smaller version of Las Vegas, do not allow such a comparison to distract you from all this unique locale has to offer. Explore beyond the slot machines and take advantage of Reno/Tahoe’s museums and outdoor adventure opportunities. There is a little bit of everything for every kind of visitor.
One of the best places to visit during your stay in Reno/Tahoe is the downtown area. Get ready to rock climb in the heart of downtown or stroll along the Riverwalk. The Riverwalk sits along the Truckee River between Arlington Avenue and Lake Street, drawing artists, foodies, and locals together in a charming space. Find wine walking events or peruse the quaint galleries and restaurants. You’ll find farm-to-table eateries as well as excellent pubs and upscale treasures sprinkled throughout the city, offering a large mix of cuisines to try. If you find yourself in the area during September, you might have the chance to witness the Great Reno Balloon Race, an event that takes place annually just north of downtown Reno. Spectators can see more than 100 brightly colored hot air balloons picturesquely floating through the Nevada sky. Pack a lawn chair and prepare to be amazed.
