Explore New York

Ever moving and changing, New York City is a booming art and commerce hub with an eclectic ethos, home to incredibly diverse and loyal inhabitants. Fun fact: It’s also the birthplace of the tuxedo and potato chips. There are so many things to do and see in New York that we couldn’t fit even half of them on this page. However, we hope this small sample of recommendations will inspire you to experience the best of the city during your trip.

LaGuardia Airport is in Queens, the city’s largest borough, with gorgeous parks, beer gardens, and a quainter, more suburban atmosphere than neighboring Manhattan or Brooklyn. It’s also a borough of important historical significance, as both the 1939 and 1964 World’s Fairs were held in Flushing Meadows Corona Park—about four miles southeast of LaGuardia Airport. Take the subway and get a picture with the famous Unisphere, a large stainless steel representation of Earth.

Brooklyn and Manhattan are the quintessential New York boroughs with everything you’ve seen on the big screen and more. If you’re heading into Manhattan, you’ll want to stop by flashy Times Square and ascend the Empire State Building for a new perspective on the city. Take a boat ride to Liberty Island and visit the Statue of Liberty. Get inspired at the Museum of Modern Art in Midtown.

If you’re heading into Brooklyn, make the journey an event of its own and cross the iconic Brooklyn Bridge, a 1.3 mile suspension bridge over the East River that is truly a feat of engineering. Spend a day beachside at Coney Island, a popular amusement park during the early and mid-1900s. Trace historical American moments back to their Brooklyn roots at the Brooklyn Historical Society.

The best ways to get around New York City are on foot or the Metropolitan Transit Authority (MTA). Accessible from almost anywhere in the city, the MTA is the third-largest transportation authority in the country. To use it, you’ll need to purchase and load a MetroCard, which you can buy from most subway stations.
