Rideshares and rental cars are also an option, of course. Whichever you choose, your Chicago adventure awaits—get going!
Mentioning the Windy City outside of the Chicagoland area often evokes gangster and mobster imagery. If that’s of interest, gangster and crime tours abound. Visit old hot spots and watering holes and homes, renown landmarks, and take a peek at the changing neighborhoods surrounding these relics. When it’s time to stop off for a bite to eat, you’ll find some of the tastiest Chicago classics in and around the neighborhoods beyond downtown and the Loop. A Chicago-style hot dog is a dragged-through-the-garden treat not to be missed, and who can visit without having a slice (or two, or five) of pizza?
There are more than mobster sights to see, of course—Millennium Park is a public-art treat, and the Loop is dotted with several impressive public pieces (including a Picasso!). There are formal murals throughout the city, as well as less-formal street art. Like your art more mainstream? Stop by the Art Institute of Chicago for a peek at some classics (Picasso’s work is here, too!). More than just art awaits at the Museum of Science and Industry; consider taking in the rest of Museum Campus, too.

You must request to be added to the same-day standby list at least 10 minutes prior to the scheduled departure of your original flight or the no-show policy will apply. If using the app or mobile web, you must list your name 30 minutes ahead of scheduled departure. You will receive a message based on the contact preference selected during booking if you are cleared on the flight. Group bookings and Unaccompanied Minors are not eligible for same-day standby. You will be required to pay any government taxes and fees associated with these itinerary changes but refunds will be provided. Your original boarding position is not guaranteed on your standby flight. Southwest Business Customers booked through travel agencies may need to see a Southwest agent at the airport for a standby listing. See Southwest.com/standby for more details.
