Colorado Springs is part of the Front Range Urban Corridor as part of the urban population in the Front Range of the Rocky Mountains extending from Colorado to Wyoming. Not only do some of the top athletes in the U.S. train at facilities in Colorado Springs, the city also hosts the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb, where automobiles and motorcycles race to the summit of Pikes Peak. Also known as the Race to the Clouds, the track spans 12.42 miles with 156 turns, climbing 4,720 feet from start to finish. The divisions for the race include the unlimited car division, where anything goes, and exhibition powersport class for motorcycles, which features utility terrain vehicles, among many others. Electric vehicles have gained notoriety for their involvement in recent years, with one electric car setting a new overall record for the first time in 2018.
